Protect yourself from COVID-19 related Cyber Fraud

Scammers look for ways to profit from our fears, especially during challenging times - don’t let them. Be aware of the current COVID-19 scams:

  • Emails  fake financial, business and medical emails
  • Malicious websites  websites that attempt to lure users to download malicious applications
  • Emergency scams – targeting vulnerable people for their money by claiming to be a family member. Scam scenarios include arrests, car accidents, and trouble returning home from abroad.

Here are 3 ways to protect yourself from falling victim to common scams:

  1. Never click on links or download attachments from unknown sources.
  2. Be cautious when downloading free software from the Internet. Malware can be embedded in these free downloads.
  3. Keep your computer, phones and software updated. Always use an anti-virus program.
